Our rooms are on the upper floor of a well-kept family home — not an apartment block or a converted office building. Host Bernhard Philipps lovingly converted his parents' house and keeps the rooms, as guests literally write, “maintained with great care and effort”.
You notice it in the details: fresh towels in the wardrobe, reading material on the shelf, international brochures and transit timetables for exploring the city — and a host who is simply there when you have a question, instead of hiding behind a hotline.
Every room has its own character: one with a seating corner and wicker chair by the window, one with a desk and garden view, one with a French double bed under the sloping roof. What they share: like-new furnishings, quiet, and views of gardens instead of streets.
Quiet and green, yet quickly in the city
Outside your window: gardens and old trees instead of traffic noise. Around the corner: the historic centre of Gerresheim — older than Düsseldorf itself — with bakeries, cafés, beer gardens and a long shopping street. All around, the Gerresheim, Grafenberg and Aaper woods invite you to walk and jog; the wildlife park is not far.
And yet you are downtown in no time: bus and train take you to Düsseldorf's Old Town, the Königsallee or the Rhine embankment in 20–30 minutes. Arriving by car? Park free at the house and reach every corner of the city via the nearby motorways.

Do the rooms have a private bathroom?
The rooms share one spacious, very well-kept bathroom with tub, shower and double washbasin. On top of that there are two separate toilets — one on the ground floor and one upstairs — so nobody has to queue in the morning. The family room also has its own washbasin with mirror.
How private is the stay really?
You have your own lockable room with your own key and access to the house at any time. You share the common areas only with the few other guests — it is a family home, not a hostel.
